Ian has enjoyed a 30+ year career in photography that has taken him across the globe, with his work published everywhere from billboards to the world’s leading newspapers and magazines. His obsession with capturing moments that only a still photograph can convey has earned him over 10 first-place awards, as well as the distinction of being the only photographer to win the UK Picture Editors Guild Photographer of the Year title three times.
As a professional photographer and videographer, Ian brings extensive experience in delivering high-quality visual content for a wide range of commercial and corporate clients. With a strong work ethic and a talent for creative problem-solving, he excels at producing bespoke, engaging visuals that align with client briefs. He has a proven ability to deliver large volumes of content per shoot, consistently exceeding expectations, and is adept at working across diverse subject matter while building strong relationships with clients and collaborators.
Known for his friendly, outgoing demeanour and adaptability, Ian brings both professionalism and a positive attitude to every project. Complementing his stills portfolio, he also produces HD time-lapse and photographic stop-motion imagery for companies, TVCs, documentaries, and cinema.
My interest in photography started at school, when my art teacher asked me to take photos for the school magazine. The creative process, and seeing my work published, made a lasting impression on me, and I’ve had a camera with me ever since.
I’ve been fortunate to have some amazing teachers and mentors in my photography career, and after learning so much, I’d love to be able to pour some of my knowledge and experience into a new generation of image makers.

Although not a technically amazing series of images, one of the most gratifying was my sequence of Jonathan Edwards breaking the world record in the triple jump for the second time in two jumps at the World Championships in Athletics in Gothenburg in 1995. My gut told me to ignore my editor who wanted me to leave my position after the first world record.
When the bones of the photography process are learned and understood, then the creative eye can be unleashed.
Lighting is everything, and being able to understand and manipulate it is key to communicating your ideas.

The course was brilliant! Being able to do it at my own pace worked well with my lifestyle and was easy to do whilst still maintaining a full time job at the same time. The modules were written in a very easy to understand manner and abundant with inspiration and motivating discussions.
